Winchester Rotary - In Memoriam

It is with deep regret and much sadness that the Winchester Rotary Club mourns the death of long time member and “Treasurer Emeritus”, Edwin “Ed” T. Nadeau. Ed joined Rotary in 1972 with the classification CPA-Attorney. In his quiet but diligent way Ed was the consummate Rotarian serving on many committees and always ready to assist the club in any task. He was not a “luncheon” member but an active force in promoting Rotary and its ideals. When asked to assume the position of Treasurer for the club in 1983 he accepted without hesitation. For the next 15+ years Ed held the office and served with distinction. During those years as treasurer the Presidents, Board of Directors and membership relied heavily on Ed’s wisdom and expertise in financial matters. The office of Treasurer required countless hours of effort, much more than was expected of the average member. Ed’s efforts were recognized when the Winchester Rotary Club named him a Paul Harris Fellow.

Ed resided in Winchester with his wife Pat for over 40 years. He was born in Eastport, Maine, graduated from Loyola High School in Townsend, MD, class of 1953, Boston College class of 1957 and New England School of Law class of 1963.Accounting was Ed’s profession and he established an accounting firm in Winchester.

He was not the only member of his family to be presented with a Paul Harris Fellow. Ed was extremely ill and in need of a kidney transplant. Jane, Ed’s daughter donated one of her kidneys in a noble and selfless act. At Ed’s retirement from Rotary the club presented Jane with a Paul Harris Fellow.

Ed leaves his wife Pat, and children Ann, Paul , Mark and Jane and six grandchildren .
