The Rotary Club of Winchester is pleased to announce that Principal Grant Smith from the Vinson Owen School is the recipient of the Club's first Honorable Paul Harris Fellow Award. Principal Smith will be honored at a luncheon November 1. The public is invited to the luncheon and can register to attend here https://winchesterrotary.org/event/community-paul-harris-luncheon/

The Paul Harris Fellowship Award is one of the highest honors Rotary can give to an individual. In addition to the recipient's recognition exemplifying the highest ideals that Rotary places in “SERVICE ABOVE SELF, “ this award also includes a donation in the recipient’s name to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International which supports Rotary’s world-wide programs.

Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary International and Rotarians worldwide strive to earn the honor of a Paul Harris Fellow.

Please join us in congratulating Principal Smith!

The Interact Club of the Rotary Club of Winchester recently held a successful eye glass drive, donating more than 325 pairs of eye glasses to the Woburn Lions Club for their Sight Program.   The high school students in the Interact Club chose an eye glass drive as their spring community service project.   The students worked with local Winchester businesses and organizations such as the Winchester Library, the Jenks Center, the Fuller Cup, and Winchester Community Music School as drop off locations, in addition to collecting glasses as Winchester High School.

We are all aware of the tragic event that took the life of
Deane Kenny Stryker,
past member of our Interact Club.
Our thoughts and prayers go out
to her Family and Friends
along with the staff of the Winchester Library
and those individuals affected.

For most in the room today the name  Albert "Al" Hovannesian has no significance. If you were told he was a Past President of this club you could research the club site, find the list of past presidents and find the name Hovannesian at number 45 out of 90 and that's about all the information available. I would like to give you a little insight into who Al was besides a name on a list....
